WHAT IS AN ESSENTIAL OIL?
An essential oil is the extract of oil from a plant or a fruit. Essential oils are distilled from seeds, leaves, stems, roots, bark, flowers, and fruit. Pure essential oils are highly concentrated and have different chemical compounds and therapeutic powers.
WHY ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils have been around for thousands of years. Used for medicinals and other healing practices, essential oils were considered highly valuable by ancient cultures and are still highly regarded in certain societies. Herbal baths and medicinal bathing, also called hydrotherapy, were employed by the Egyptians, Romans, South East Asians, Chinese and Turks for medicinal purposes in ancient times, during medieval times and the 18th, 19th & 20th centuries.

HOW ESSENTIAL OILS WORK & THEIR BENEFITS
Essential oils penetrate cell membranes quickly and disperse rapidly throughout the blood and tissues. When oils are applied to your skin, the benefits can affect your body in minutes. When you inhale the aroma of the oils, the molecules enter the bloodstream through capillaries in the lungs, giving you all the health benefits of an essential oil.

Essential oils such as lavender have been used to combat depression and induce relaxation. Chamomile works well on achy muscles and insomnia. Peppermint can work well on headaches and is an anti-fungal. Almost every essential oil has some quality that can benefit many aliments to the human body.

ESSENTIAL VERSUS SYNTHETIC
There are significant differences between synthetic fragrance oils and pure essential oils. Synthetic fragrance oils are produced by blending aromatic chemicals primarily derived from coal tar. Synthetic fragrances have no medicinal properties whatsoever. They do not contain natural properties beneficial to many aliments. These oils may duplicate the smell of the pure botanical, but the chemical components of an essential oil created in nature determines its true aromatic benefits.
